College women's basketball: Saints hold off North Central

Chelsea Swatek of Cromwell came off the bench to score 18 points in leading St. Scholastica to a 60-48 victory over North Central in UMAC women’s basketball action Wednesday night at Reif Gym.

Holly VanKempen added 12 points and five rebounds as the Saints (4-4 overall, 1-2 UMAC) earned their first conference victory of the season. Sam Brannen had seven points and 10 rebounds and Danielle Cieluch of Duluth had seven points, eight rebounds and four assists for CSS.

Lizzy Swanson and Haley Modahl had 12 points apiece to lead North Central (2-5, 0-3), but St. Scholastica’s defense was the key, forcing the Rams into 21 turnovers and 30.2 percent shooting.
