The Duluth Huskies held off a late charge by the La Crosse Loggers on Wednesday for an 11-7 victory in Northwoods League play at Wade Stadium in Duluth.

The Loggers scored six runs in the top of the ninth inning, however, the Huskies took a 10-run lead into the inning. That margin came from five runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined, plus five more in the seventh that became handy to have at the very end.

Charlie Rhee was 3-for-4 at the plate for Duluth with a double, RBI and run scored. Cooper Trinkle came home to score four runs for the Huskies while going 2-for-3. Jesse Pierce drove in three runs for the Huskies.

The Loggers hit two home runs in the top of the ninth inning, with a three-run shot by Seth Stroh cutting the margin to five and a solo homer by Ronald Sweeny making it a four-run game.

The Huskies are back on the road Thursday to take on the St. Cloud Rox starting at 7:05 p.m. at Joe Faber Field.
