Hermantown native Kevin Folman is heading to the Chicago White Sox organization after having his contract purchased on Tuesday.

Folman, 23, was pitching for the Sioux Falls Canaries of the American Association - an independent minor league - after wrapping up a four-year college career at North Dakota State from 2014-18.

A relief pitcher for the Bison who is tied for second in program history with 15 saves, Folman made eight appearances for the Canaries this summer, including seven starts. He posted a 3.54 ERA with 23 strikeouts and 16 walks in 45 2/3 innings.

Folman started the summer playing a fourth season with the Duluth Huskies. The 2013 News Tribune Prep Baseball Player of the Year out of Hermantown appeared in three innings over three games this summer with the Huskies before signing a professional deal with the Canaries.
