Harrison Freed’s one-out single in the top of the 10th inning plated Nick Lewis for an unearned run that lifted the La Crosse Loggers to an 11-10 Northwoods League victory over the Duluth Huskies in front of 1,202 fans Tuesday night at Wade Stadium.
Freed’s RBI, and the Huskies’ subsequent scoreless bottom of the 10th, capped a wild ballgame that featured six lead changes - and five La Crosse errors. Duluth led 5-1 after a five-run third, only to watch the visitors score twice in the fourth and four more times in the fifth. The Huskies responded with four runs in the seventh to pull in front 9-7 and, after the Loggers scored the game’s next three runs, Duluth forced extras when Chris Gilbody’s bases-loaded walk in the ninth forged a 10-10 tie.
Sam Baier had three of the Huskies’ 14 hits.
Braiden Ward was 4-for-6 with a double for La Crosse. Korey Lee added three RBIs, two of which came on his two-run homer in the ninth.
With the win, the Loggers moved 1 1/2 games up on the Huskies in the North Division. The same two teams meet again today at 6:35 p.m., back at Wade.
