Baseball: UMD splits with Minot State

Henry George had three hits, drove in a run and scored twice, including the insurance run, in Minnesota Duluth's 5-3 win over Minot State in the opening game of an NSIC doubleheader Sunday in Watford City, N.D.

Minot State won the second game 13-9.

Evan Vick recorded the win in relief of Marcus Frederickson in the opener and Thomas Bruchu entered in the seventh and struck out all three batters for the save.

Despite a five-run ninth inning, UMD lost the nigthcap by four runs.

Eric Yachinich hit two home runs and drove in five runs for the Bulldogs (15-15). Tyler Midas added a pair of hits.

Justin DeMary led Minot State with four RBIs on two hits. Darrel Doll contributed three RBIs.
