College baseball: Bulldogs split in Florida

Minnesota Duluth split a pair of games today in Winter Haven, Fla., against teams from Ohio, beating Findlay 9-5 and losing to Tiffin 7-6.

Tyler Midas, Chase Thomas and Drew Stewart each had three hits for the Bulldogs against Findlay, with Midas recording three doubles and Thomas picking up two. Cory Krolikowski drove in five runs, despite getting just one hit — a RBI single in the top of the ninth. Colin Baumgard picked up the win after giving up five runs — two earned — on eight hits, with four strikeouts in six innings.

Against Tiffin, Eric Yachinich had three hits and three RBIs for the Bulldogs, who nearly battled back from a 7-3 deficit in the bottom of the ninth. Jason Busker took the loss, giving up four runs — all earned — on eight hits with a walk and three strikeouts in six innings.

The Bulldogs (4-3) wrap up play in Florida at 8:15 a.m. today against another Ohio school, Malone.
