Baseball: Willmar rallies to beat Huskies

Willmar rallied with two runs in the top of the ninth inning Friday night to defeat Duluth 6-5 in a North­woods League baseball game before 2,638 fans at Wade Stadium.

Willmar (6-6) led throughout the first six innings, building a 4-2 advantage after four. The Huskies (6-5) made a comeback with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to go up 5-4.

Outfielder Jordan Smith of St. Cloud State led Willmar with three hits, including a triple, and three RBI. Center fielder Zeke DeVoss of the University of Miami had three hits and scored twice for the Huskies, while Mark Threlkeld had two hits, including his eighth home run of the season.

Winning pitcher Jayson Huett of Northwest Missouri State threw two-thirds of an inning and allowed two runs.
