Baseball: Pierce, Huskies power past Express

University of Arkansas product Jesse Pierce had a home run, double and three RBIs as the Duluth Huskies started the second half with an 8-3 victory over the Eau Claire Express Tuesday night in Northwoods League baseball before 498 at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Central Florida’s Michael Brooks added two hits, including a homer, and Peyton Powell also had a pair of hits for the Huskies. Starter Ronnie Voacolo pitched five solid innings to get the win, allowing just four hits and one run, with two walks and three strikeouts.

Anthony Chavez had three hits to lead the Express.

The same teams rematch at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, only this time it will be at Wade Stadium in Duluth.
