Lake Park rallies to beat Iowa in extra innings

Duluth's Lake Park Junior All Stars rallied from a 10-5 deficit to beat Iowa 13-11 in nine innings at the Junior Little League Midwest Regionals on Wednesday in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Tyler Cummins' bases-loaded double helped Lake Park score six runs in the seventh inning to go up 11-10 before Iowa chipped back with a run in the bottom half of the inning to force extra innings. After a scoreless eighth, Cummins' sacrifice fly scored Nathaniel Benson with the winning run in the top of the ninth inning. Joe Nelson later scored an insurance run on an infield hit by Lucas Hedin.

Hedin earned the pitching win.

Lake Park plays Kentucky at 1 p.m. today, with the winner advancing to the regional championship game at 5 p.m. The regional champion advances to the Junior Little League World Series starting Sunday in Taylor, Mich.

In late action from Tuesday, Lake Park fell 5-4 to Ohio to finish preliminary play 3-1, good enough to be seeded third going into Wednesday's elimination rounds.
