Hall of Fame night at Amsoil Speedway on Friday marked the return to Victory Lane for a pair of Eveleth racing stalwarts.
Fast-starting Harry Hanson negotiated 25 laps, a full field (26 cars) and a couple restarts to win the Late Model event, his first victory since July 18, 2014. He also earned the fast-lap bonus with a turn at 18.364 seconds.
Hermantown’s Darrell Nelson was second, just as he was in the Modified race, to Eveleth’s Rick Niemi, who opened up a huge lead early and made it stand to win for the first time since 2012. Niemi, who led from start to finish, also spun the fastest lap, at 19.813 seconds.
Other winners Friday included Kevin Burdick of Proctor (Super Stock), Deven VanHouse of Silver Bay (Midwest Modified) and Superior’s Ryan Savoy (Pure Stock).

  • Amsoil Speedway added five members to its Hall of Fame on Friday. Warren Carlson, Rick Egersdorf and Mike Meger went in as retired drivers, former track announcer Clark Brown was inducted in the Achievement category and Scott Lawrence was honored as the active driver inductee.
