While some area race fans will descend on Ogilvie, Minn., for this weekend's Topless Nationals, the Wissota racing season officially has come to an end, and a handful of Northland drivers fared well in the national points standings despite rain hampering the local racing circuit.

Skeeter Estey of Kelly Lake is the Midwest Modified national points champion, earning 1,687 points racing 49 events. Lorin Johnson of Miller, S.D., was second, with 1,674 points over 52 events.

Kevin Burdick of Proctor also enjoyed a stellar season and finished fifth in Super Stocks. Burdick's performance is even more impressive when you consider he earned 1,642 points in just 48 events, finishing 46 points behind the winner, Tim Johnson of Brainerd, who had 1,688 in 63 events.

Meanwhile, in Pure Stocks, Michael Blevins of Hibbing, Kyle Copp of Brule, Andrew Hanson of Iron River, Austin Carlson of Cohasset and Dylan Shelton of Wrenshall all cracked the top 10, with Blevins winning the championship.
