Kelly Estey of Kelly Lake dethroned Dan Ebert to win the Minnesota Modified Nationals main event Friday night at Gondik Lake Speedway in Superior.
Estey, starting from the outside of the second row after winning the fourth heat, was able to first take the lead from pole-sitter Ebert with 13 laps remaining and then, thanks to one of many cautions that riddled the 30-lap feature, regained the lead for good with nine laps left.
Ebert, who captured the 2019 race, won Thursday’s Modifieds feature on opening night at the track. He finished second Friday, with Shane Sabraski taking third place after starting in 17th position.
Skeeter Estey, Kelly’s son, won the 20-lap Midwest Modifieds as pole-winner Cody Carlson’s drive shaft came apart on the opening lap.
Other winners included Sabraski, who claimed the 25-lap Super Stock feature; Cory Jorgensen in the 15-lap Pure Stock feature; and Andrew Hanson in the 15-lap Street Stock final.
