Ashley Anderson of Elk Mound, Wisconsin, spoiled a sweep for Jody Bellefeuille by winning Saturday’s Modified feature at the fifth annual Border Battle on a 90-degree night at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior.
Bellefeuille, of Carlton, held off Anderson to win Friday’s Modified feature as part of the two-day event, which would have awarded Bellefeuille an extra race purse if he would have swept.
Aaron Bernick of Duluth did earn that bonus by winning both Pure Stock features over the weekend.
Gondik Law Speedway is off Friday as they prep for Tuesday’s World of Outlaw Late Model Series special. Speedway promoter Joe Stariha expects WOO regulars Jimmy Mars and Jake Timm to battle top Wissota racers such as Pat Doar, John Kaanta, Jake Redetzke, Kevin Eder, Darrell Nelson and Steve Laursen for top honors.
With Superior off this weekend, Hibbing Raceway will have a rare Friday night of racing. Nelson, of Hermantown, and Jeff Massingill, of Keewatin, are expected to race in the Late Model Challenge Series in Aberdeen, South Dakota, with Nelson leading the series and Massingill in second.
