Midfielder Robert Quinlan scored in the opening minutes of the first half and Ashland held on to defeat Duluth Denfeld 1-0 on Tuesday night at Public Schools Stadium, giving the Oredockers the outright Lake Superior Conference high school boys soccer title.
Goalkeeper Thomas Whiting kept the Hunters off the scoreboard as Ashland improved to 16-1-1 overall and 6-0 in the LSC. The Oredockers' 20-game regular-season unbeaten streak (19-0-1) was snapped Saturday, 3-2 at Northland Pines.
