Alto steps down at Grand Rapids
Lee Alto recently resigned after 20 seasons coaching the Grand Rapids high school softball team.
Alto's teams never qualified for the state tournament but came close on several occasions.
"Lee is one of the old-guard coaches that we talk about that will never happen again," athletic director Pat Rendle told the Grand Rapids Herald-Review. "We, as young ADs, talk about how difficult it is to find coaches nowadays and how difficult it is to find guys that really care about the sport and the kids. We might not see the legends like Lee that will do a sport for 25-30 years."
