Five skiers from the Northland placed in the top 50 of Thursday's U.S. Rocky-Central Division U14 Kombi event which combined slalom and giant slalom segments.
Duluth native Kaitlyn Vesterstein of Wayzata, Minn., was second among 94 entrants in the girls division in 50.51 seconds. Alex Stone of Pequot Lakes, Minn., was 21st in 52.53 and Avery Plude of Duluth was 42nd in 54.47.
In the boys division, Will Hanson of Duluth was 44th among 97 skiers in 1:01.57 and Austin Danelski of Hermantown was 49th in 1:02.21.
