Duluth East junior Oliver Miatke and sophomore Rowan Bixler led the Greyhounds with state-qualifying ninth-place finishes at the Section 7AAA Cross Country Championships Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, at Anoka, Minnesota.

Miatke finished the 5,000-meter course in 16 minutes, 44.33 seconds, with junior teammate Tyler Stark 15th in 16:59.79 as the Greyhounds finished sixth in the boys team standings.

Forest Lake senior Daniel VanAcker was the top boys individual in 15:38.00 while Centennial held off Anoka and Andover for the boys team title.

Bixler finished the 5,000-meter girls race in 20:17.06, with freshman teammate Anna-Britta Helmer 12th in 20:25.40 as the Greyhounds finished third as a team.

Forest Lake freshman Norah Hushagen was the top girls individual in 18:07.66 in helping the perennial power Rangers hold off Centennial for the girls team title.

The top two teams and next six individuals advance to the state meet Saturday, Nov. 6, at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.
