A busy day of volleyball tournament play concluded with Cloquet and Floodwood taking home tournament titles on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021.

Cloquet won the event at Virginia, edging Northeast Range 2-1 (20-25, 25-19, 16-14) in the semifinals, then dominating Eveleth-Gilbert 2-0 (25-10, 25-11) in the championship game.

At Pierz, Floodwood won seven of eight sets leading up to the title game vs. Rush City, then took down the Tigers 2-0 (25-19, 25-16) in the title match.

For the day, Kenzie Kiminski notched 21 kills and added 25 digs. Maddie Irvine led the Polar Bears' defense with 34 digs and five blocks. Kylie Hart posted 69 assists.

Forest Lake won the championship of the 11-team tournament at Duluth East on Saturday and Turtle Lake topped Baldwin-Woodville in the Heidi Zosel Memorial Tournament at Northwestern.

Chastey hat trick lifts Denfeld

Parker Chastey scored two of his three goals from the penalty spot as Duluth Denfeld blanked Chisago Lakes 4-0 in a non-league road game on Saturday. Conrad Lazzaro made five saves for the shutout.
