Former Minnesota Duluth and St. Scholastica defenseman Brenden Kotyk is heading to the ECHL Kelly Cup Finals with the Toledo Walleye after a 6-2 victory over the Tulsa Oilers - who include former Bulldogs Jared Thomas and Charlie Sampair - on Wednesday in Game 7 of the ECHL Western Conference Finals.

The Walleye, who are an affiliate of the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and NHL's Detroit Red Wings, play the Newfoundland Growlers in the ECHL championship series, which gets underway Saturday in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

After posting six goals and five assists in 50 regular season games, Kotyk has a goal and three assists during the ECHL postseason.

• Former Bulldogs captain Karson Kuhlman is on the roster for the Boston Bruins, who begin their NHL Stanley Cup Final series against the St. Louis Blues on Monday. Kuhlman last cracked the Bruins' lineup in a Game 3 loss at Columbus in the second round.

Two former Bulldogs are still alive in the AHL Calder Cup semifinals - defenseman Andy Welinski with the San Diego Gulls against the Chicago Wolves, and goaltender Kasimiar Kaskisuo with the Toronto Marlies against the Charlotte Checkers.
