Bulldogs will square off against Bulldogs this week in Lake Placid, N.Y. when the United States Under-22 Women’s Select Team takes on Canada’s National Women’s Development Team in a three-game series that begins Wednesday and concludes Saturday.

Minnesota Duluth senior forward and co-captain Sydney Brodt will be joined on Team USA by sophomore forward Gabbie Hughes. Both were selected after taking part in the USA Hockey Women’s National Festival last week in Lake Placid.

UMD’s three Manitobans — junior forward Ashton Bell, senior defenseman and co-captain Jalyn Elmes and senior wing Ryleigh Houston — will suit up for Canada after participating in last week’s Team Canada Summer Showcase. Bell will serve as an assistant captain.

In addition to the U-22 series, the American and Canadian Under-18 teams will meet in a three-game series Wednesday through Saturday in Lake Placid.

The U.S. Under-18 Select Team, coached by the Bulldogs’ Maura Crowell, will feature four UMD recruits in forward Kathryn Davis out of Edina High School, defenseman Brenna Fuhrman of Farmington, Minn., forward Gabby Krause of Andover, Minn., and forward Clara Van Wieren of Okemos, Mich.

Davis, a native of Meridian, Idaho, just committed to the Bulldogs last month after posting 25 goals and seven assists as a junior during the Hornets’ run to the 2018-19 Class AA state title.
