Eight 11- and 12-year-old boys and girls competed in the Lakeview National Golf Course Junior Recreation League tournament Tuesday, July 31, in Two Harbors after a summer of weekly golf outings.
Each Tuesday since June 12, kids worked with players on the Two Harbors High School and College of St. Scholastica golf teams to improve their skills.
Marlee Hogenson took the tournament title for the girls, but everyone received the same prize, a sleeve of golf balls and a plastic tee to practice on at home.
The boys tournament ended in a bit of controversy, with the boys unable to decide who had one. They also didn't have a scorecard when they came back to the Lakeview clubhouse, so course manager Ian Guzzo declared the competition a draw.
