Junior hockey: Late lead gets away from Wilderness
The Minnesota Wilderness let a late lead slip away in a North American League Game on Saturday night in Minot, N.D., where the Minotauros scored a pair of goals in the final 1:45 to nab a 3-2 victory and sweep the weekend series.
Alex Truscott and Josh Fricks put the Wilderness in front 2-1 with second-period goals, and that's where things remained well into the final frame. But Minot's Michael Talbot punched the back of the net at 18:15 of the third, and Colby Enns followed with the dagger at 19:55.
Minnesota goaltender Jacob Sibell stopped 36 of 39 shots.
The Wilderness have now dropped three straight.
• Miroslav Mucha scored two goals and Nick Grabko saved 34 shots as the Minotauros defeated the Wilderness 4-2 late Friday night in Minot.
Edward Lindelow gave the Wilderness the lead in the first period before Minot scored the next three goals. Nathan Horn cut the deficit to one with 3:27 to play in regulation before Grant Loven sealed the win via an empty-netter with 9 seconds left.
