College women's hockey: Saints knock off Twin Ports foe
Rachel Anderson scored two goals and added an assist while Lexi Thomeczek totaled 45 saves in St. Scholastica's 5-1 nonconference victory over Wisconsin-Superior on Tuesday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.
Lexi Weiss gave UWS (14-9-2) a 1-0 lead at 14:46 of the first period but the lead lasted only 2:24 until Anderson scored unassisted for the Saints (15-4-4).
Lindsey Wright and Anderson tacked on second-period goals, and Abby Sawyer netted her 17th of the season and Kaleigh Hamann tallied on a power play in the third period to close the scoring.
Thomeczek saved 15 shots in the first period, 13 in the second and 17 in the final period to neutralize the Yellowjackets' 46-23 shots-on-goal advantage.
