Prep report: Nylund leads Rails past Hawks

Morgan Nylund had 15 points to lead Proctor to a 50-42 victory over Hermantown in the semifinals of the Esko Coaches Classic girls basketball tournament Friday.

Nylund made four of the Rails' 10 3-pointers.

Taylor Vold had 21 points and Ellie Gamradt added 10 to lead the Hawks (9-2).

Proctor (5-3) plays Esko (6-5) this afternoon for the championship.

Bridget Yellin led a balanced Eskomos offense with 18 points.

Marcy Sunnarborg (13 points), Kaitlyn Bergerson (11) and Kristy DeMuth (10) also scored in double figures as Esko used a big second half to overcome a 28-21 halftime deficit.

Gracie Thomas scored two goals to lead the Hilltoppers to a semifinal victory in the Bronze Division of the Schwan's Cup at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

Katie McKinzie and Meredith Boettcher added goals for Marshall (8-5), which advances to play Minneapolis (6-8), a 1-0 winner over St. Francis/North Branch, for the championship at 3 p.m. today at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.
