DULUTH — St. Scholastica used a three-goal third-period to put away Concordia-Moorhead 4-2 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's hockey on Friday at Mars Lakeview Arena.
The Saints and Cobbers were tied 1-1 through one and two periods but Abby Pohlkamp broke the deadlock with her seventh goal of the season just 45 seconds into the third. St. Scholastica used a power-play to double its lead as Taylor Thompson scored at 9:40 for an eventual game-winner before Courtney Bloemke added an insurance tally 2:09 later.
Thompson had a goal and assist and Ashlea Ardvison made a season-high 42 saves.
CSS (9-6-1, 6-2-1 MIAC) and Concordia play again Saturday in Duluth.

Early goal not enough on the road
St. Scholastica scored first but never got a second in a 4-1 MIAC loss at Concordia-Moorhead on Friday in Moorhead.

Arkhip Ledenkov got CSS on the board with his eighth goal of the season at the 6:51 mark of the first period, but the lead didn't last four minutes before Isaac Henkemeyer-How evened it up at 10:18. Henkemeyer-How had assists on two Mason Plante goals later in the game, the first of which gave the Cobbers the lead for good with 2:08 to play in the first period.
Jack Bostedt made 35 saves for the Saints (6-8-2, 3-5-1). The teams meet again in Moorhead on Saturday.
