Prep report: Chiabotti-led North Woods advances in 7A

Junior racks up 325 rush yards.

It was all T.J. Chiabotti all the time Tuesday night as the junior ran 31 times for 325 yards and scored four touchdowns in North Woods’ 30-8 victory over East Central in a Section 7A high school football quarterfinal game at Cook.

Chiabotti also intercepted two passes on defense to lead the second-seeded Grizzlies (4-1) into the section semifinals against Hinckley-Finlayson. That game is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cook, pending a COVID-19 related announcement by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz today.

Avery Anderson’s 65-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the lone touchdown for seventh-seeded East Central (0-4).

The visiting Rangers scored 32 points in the second half to rally past the Broncos in a Section 7AA semifinal.

Ashton Hann passed for three touchdowns and ran 55 yards for another score in the third-seeded Rangers’ victory.

Ben Glowack threw three TD passes for International Falls, including 79- and 33-yarders to Tucker Hell.

Quarterback Luc Stadler was 7-for-10 passing for 157 yards and three touchdowns as the Mariners opened up the Section 7A Nine-Man playoffs with a victory in Silver Bay.

Sully Tikkanen, Manor Ollman and Derek Thompson had TD receptions for the third-seeded Mariners (4-2) while Ero Wallin had an 11-yard touchdown run.

Ollman had a team-leading nine tackles as Silver Bay kept the sixth-seeded Vikings (1-6) off the scoreboard.

Cole Harrington, Mason Perkovich and Beau Barry all ran for two touchdowns as the Tigers eased to the Nine-Man Section 7 first-round win at Mountain Iron.

Harrington scored on runs of 10 and 2 yards; Perkovich ran in twice from the 6-yard line; and Barry went 15 and 36 yards for Cherry (4-1).
