A primary placekicker emerges for NDSU football

North Dakota State kicker Griffin Crosa has performed in high-leverage situations during his Bison career, especially during his freshman season in 2019.

Crosa hit field goals from 38, 33 and 22 yards in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision quarterfinals against Illinois State at the Fargodome.

Those kicks lifted NDSU to a 9-3 victory against the Redbirds en route to an undefeated national championship season.

Bison volleyball fight off South Dakota in five sets

North Dakota State shook off a tough loss in the fourth set and defeated South Dakota in five sets in a Summit League match on Tuesday.

The Bison won 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 15-11.

Tie 2-2, the Bison came out strong in the fifth set, leading throughout aside from a couple ties early on. The Coyotes pulled within one at 12-11 but a Michelle Glover kill and two kills from Syra Tanchin ended the match.

Tanchin had 26 kills and hit .475 and Glover had 18 kills and hit .577. Tanchin also had 11 digs and Glover had four blocks. Setter Kelley Johnson had 55 assists and 10 digs.

The NDSU football kicking situation has been an area of uncertainty, but we might have some answers after last weekend's game in South Dakota.

Junior kicker Griffin Crosa made two field goals in the 34-17 win. The first was from 26 yards out to tie the game and the second was a 25-yarder in the 4th quarter to give the bison a two-possession lead and earn him MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fargo South kicker Landon Docken commits to UND

Fargo South senior kicker Landon Docken announced his commitment to continue his academic and football careers at the University of North Dakota.

Docken announced his commitment on social media Thursday night.

The Bruins senior was the only kicker to earn all-conference honors last season and remains perfect on field goal and extra point attempts this season

A rough week for two former Bison quarterbacks in NFL

What a range of emotions is has to be for the two former Bison quarterbacks that are in the NFL this week.

Trey Lance had his season end Sunday when his right ankle was trapped underneath a pile of Seahawks, breaking it.

Meanwhile, Carson Wentz has a reunion this weekend.

Wentz on his third team in Washington, faces Philadelphia, the team that traded away five draft picks to get him and face the guy Jalen Hurts, who just diced up the Vikings, who replaced him.

Fargo North basketball star is turning heads on the football field

Fargo North football is 4-0 and the Spartans are getting ready for a rivalry game against South. Yeah, Dana and Kerstin. There was some uncertainty at North after graduating two all-state receivers, but they’ve turned to an unexpected to fill those shoes.

“(Jeremiah Sem) is a quality young man with a lot of natural, special gifted athletic qualities," said North basketball coach

Jeremiah Sem is known for his eye-catching basketball skills, but this fall he’s turning heads on the football field and it’s just his second year of playing.

Quick turnaround for NDSU Bison as they jump into conference games this week

NDSU football wrapped up its non-conference schedule at Arizona on Saturday. They arrived back in Fargo at 7 a.m. on Sunday. It's a quick turnaround as they open Missouri Valley conference play Saturday against South Dakota.

This is the first time since 2010 that NDSU has gone from non-conference to conference games without a bye week in between.

Saturday's North Dakota State football game with the University of Arizona will have double meaning for one football family.

The Weerts' of Batavia, Illinois have had this game circled on the calendar for the better part of two and a half years.

Luke is a senior linebacker at NDSU, who has played since his freshman year. His younger brother Matt, who goes by the nickname Mojo, is a redshirt freshman linebacker. At Arizona.

Six years to the date since this magical moment happened for NDSU football, the Bison return to the FBS spotlight.

This matchup with Arizona will be unlike any of the previous 9 games with the big boys simply because of location.

From Minnesota to Iowa, 8 of the 9 games have been against midwest teams. The exception is Wyoming, who plays a similar style of football.
