The Minnesota State Patrol reported that alcohol is believed to be a factor in a two-vehicle crash Friday night on state Highway 23 that killed one driver and seriously injured two passengers. The other driver is in jail.
A driver from Glenwood and his passenger from Marshall both died.
Michael Osterholm, an epidemiologist at the University of Minnesota who leads the university’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, said that severe cases of COVID-19 in children are still rare. According to state Health Department data, kids younger than 15 make up about 9% of all of Minnesota’s COVID-19 cases.
Leo Roy Kack, 88, and Audrey Marie Kack, 83, both of St. Leo, Minn., suffered serious but what are believed to non-life-threatening injuries Sunday night in a crash near Hanley Falls, and State Patrol Trooper Chad Patrick Nigg, 48, of Marshall, was treated and released from the hospital following the crash.
