The previous record in the Northland — 3,485 new COVID cases — was reported last week. This week's number is 5,689.
On Jan. 27, the Minnesota Department of Health and Wisconsin Department of Health Services recorded 1,231 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northland and four COVID-related deaths.
Nine COVID-related deaths were recorded in the region Jan. 14-20.
Project Blue Light, coordinated by 11 county and tribal public health departments, is an effort for individuals and businesses to show support for front-line workers Jan. 24-31.
