Scientific discoveries of human life are weakening the Democratic platform on abortion and are giving the unborn more credibility.
Recently, I asked a DFL candidate, “When does human life begin?” I didn’t get a direct answer, but conception was discussed.
Maybe this analogy and comparison by author and philosophy professor Peter Kreeft will help: “While traveling in a car, a blanket-wrapped human figure is on the side of the road. For the sake of human life, stopping the car to protect what’s inside the blanket is the best action.” In comparison, Kreeft says: “Similarly, this can be applied to an unborn child. Scientific evidence, through ultrasound, shows inside a mother’s womb the physical shape of an unborn human body with a head, eyes, hands and feet. A heartbeat can be detected. This life needs to be protected to advance human development.”
In support of this life, the Republican platform reads: “The unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed.”
In contrast, the Democratic Party platform reads: “The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to make decisions regarding her pregnancy, including a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay. We oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.”
The Democratic platform does not recognize the unborn as an individual because this would be a threat and be in opposition to the woman’s right to choose.
Science has proved differently and the truth of when human life begins is becoming more known.
The Republicans know it. Now it is your turn. Vote Republican so the Democrats can know it.
