The Dec. 3 letter, “Abortion foes want to control everyone else,” suggested that we sacrifice the lives of yet-to-be-born children in order to save the planet from overpopulation.
Is the planet too crowded? Resources too taxed? Only where you find tyranny do you find severe poverty, scarcity and starvation. Africa, North Korea, Cuba and the Middle East come to mind. People in Venezuela can’t even get toilet paper - just a minor problem since there’s little food.
Fortunately, the United States stepped back from budding tyranny on Nov. 8.
Where you find liberty and private property you find prosperity and wise stewardship of resources. Where you find freedom, sustainability is without limit.
Is the planet overpopulated? Is anyone’s life more precious than the lives of unborn innocents? One simple observation reveals the hypocrisy and cowardice of convictions expressed in the letter. The letter writer is still here.
