I have seen advertising accusing the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources of cruelty for trapping wolves. There is another side to this story.
The wolf population in northern Minnesota is threatening livestock. Farmers are losing calves. Wolves have been seen waiting for a cow to deliver. Killing the calf is cruel and traumatizes the cow and the rest of the herd. Losing calves reduces farmers' incomes.
The wolves are hunted and trapped to protect these farm animals.
