It's been about a year since the tugboat Essayons sank in its slip in the Duluth harbor ("Wind, ice sink tugboat B&B plans in Duluth harbor," March 25, 2009). Why is it still on the bottom? Where is the Department of Natural Resources on this and why isn't the department doing something about having the owner or owners remove the tug from the water to dry land?
Homeowners who live on the water's edge cannot preserve their waterfront without the DNR's consent or permits, yet no one has come forward to address this problem. Not only is it a navigation hazard, but it's also a visual eyesore to visitors of our beautiful city.
