Reader's view: Why are there so few good Samaritans?

I was at the Holiday Center bus stop on Sept. 17 when a severely handicapped individual was trying to enter the building. There were not any automatic doors, and he was not able to speak to ask for help.

I was at the Holiday Center bus stop on Sept. 17 when a severely handicapped individual was trying to enter the building. There were not any automatic doors, and he was not able to speak to ask for help.
Everyone just stood by, oblivious to someone in need, talking or texting on their cell phones.
I let him in, and as I did I felt quite a bit of anger. Shame on you! Shame on all of you!
What happened to being a good Samaritan?
