This is in response to the News Tribune's March 12 "Our View" editorial, "Gay marriage: Let Minnesotans vote." I can think of nothing more obscene, unconstitutional and un-American than subjecting the (formerly) inalienable rights of some citizens to liberty and the pursuit of happiness to a popularity contest.

The only thing necessary to understand, appreciate and accept my point of view is to consider that we are to "do unto others as we would have them do unto us." That and the promise of "liberty and justice for all."

Voting on other people's rights, as the News Tribune supported with its editorial? Who or what would ever protect minorities from the tyranny of the majority?
