Some Republicans say we must require picture IDs to prevent voter fraud (think: scare tactic). This is proactive, because the problem is very nearly nonexistent. Nip it in the bud, as it were.
Far and away Democratic voters would be most affected by this action. This is a reactive action by Republicans, although, truth be told, it is really a proactive action. If even a small portion of the Democrats affected can't vote, the Republican candidate stands a better chance of winning. This is much like "hedging your bet."
Maybe Kristi Stokes, president of Greater Downtown Council, could invite Discovery Channel's "Shark Week" to do a show here in Duluth, just in case.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Vote "no," plain and simple.
