I realize the Dec. 9 Violet Days cartoon was a satire of a cruel and old Austro-Hungarian Christmas tradition, but I think the artist, Chris Monroe, didn't realize her character Krampus could provide a weapon to a bullying adult or be terrifying to a young reader who might have been drawn to the strip because of its cartoon format.

As a longtime psychotherapist, I find the idea of this killer demon, crazy old St. Nick's sidekick and employee to be appalling and even obscene. Let's ask parents not to pass this on and to counsel any children who might have read it, thinking it was "just a cartoon." Let's go back to Minnesota Nice.
