Reader's view: VFW members see need for change in Congress

When the news media says the VFW supports U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar, they are incorrect. The VFW's political action committee supports Oberstar. That's different from the VFW and its members.

This group, like all others, hedges its bets on the leader of the race and what the group can get and has no concerns for our country.

If groups would look at the Clean Water Act, cap-and-trade, health care and bailouts, they would see the country cannot sustain its current level of spending. And with no country there will be no groups.

All areas of government need to take cuts, including education and veterans. To support this is not being against these things; it's needed for the country to get on track. Without people turning their hands from the taking position to the working position, we will not survive.
