I attended my first Veteran Day event as an Honor Guard member this year. What most impressed me were the children who participated in the ceremony. It touched my heart to see the Boy Scouts lead us in the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Then one of the school’s fifth-graders sang the national anthem and did so the way the song was written. I had tears in my eyes when the kids sang, “God Bless America.”
