Give credit where it is due: University of Minnesota Duluth students responded to some earlier criticism for their lack of support for UMD's championship football team in sensational fashion! They braved frigid conditions and showed up with numbers, enthusiasm and noise to the Dec. 11 NCAA Division II semifinal game against Northwest Missouri State at Malosky Stadium ("Brrring on the title game," Dec. 12).

The national television announcers voiced how impressed they were with the students' display of support for their team. The students' energy certainly had a positive impact on our players and coaches and contributed to a winning effort.

UMD's athletic administration staff came up with some imaginative thinking to make the game an "event." The frigid evening's football game was a huge success with UMD's football team victorious and on to the national championship game in Florence, Ala., which the Bulldogs also won.

Go Bulldogs!
