Lately I have been giving much thought to a statement I have been hearing quite often of late. I am hearing friends and others asking what's behind the gun violence and the weather patterns we have been experiencing recently.
I have been around for a while and am amazed at how our country's leaders seem to think we do not need God. They have taken prayer and Bibles out of our schools and the Ten Commandments out of our courtrooms and public places.
Even James McHenry, a signer of the Constitution, was quoted as saying, "Bibles are strong entrenchments; where they abound, men cannot pursue wicked courses." Also, Founding Father Patrick Henry said, "The Bible is a book worth more than all the other books printed."
We wonder why our prisons are crowded. We have a nation that is more concerned with unwanted or abandoned animals than the cries of aborted babies who God's word says "are created in his image." So we need not be surprised when the next perfect storm, earthquake or gun violence takes place.
My case in point is that we think we have it all together without God and his infinite wisdom, but the result is a nation that is in moral decay and on the brink of financial disaster. And our children, the future of our nation, are caught in the middle of it. Shame on us!

As a believer in Jesus Christ and his word, I hope and pray our nation comes to its senses before it is too late, because I still believe we live in the greatest country on Earth.
