Does anyone remember Al Gore graciously conceding that he lost the presidential election in 2000 to George W. Bush? That election was decided by the Supreme Court, which was, of course, unconstitutional since the Florida electors, according to the Constitution, should have decided and named the Florida winner - none less than retired Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who recently publicly opined that the Supreme Court shouldn’t have taken the case of Bush v. Gore. The court affirmed that long before by stating that Bush v. Gore cannot be cited as a precedent.
Now we have Donald Trump stating practically every day that “we” can’t let “them” steal this election. So it won’t be his fault if he loses; the election was rigged and stolen from him. And he already maintains the Republican Party has abandoned him.
The worry is his followers may agree with him and take threatening or even violent action. Remember Trump saying maybe the Second Amendment people will take care of Hillary Clinton? That, in addition to the countless other outrageous Trump pronouncements, makes one wonder whether he is unbalanced.
