Reader's View: Trump hellbent to erase Obama's legacy

I've lived through "wars" on poverty, drugs, and terrorism, but I never thought I'd observe the kind of war on reason itself that marks the administration of President Donald Trump.

We're now seeing the results of a decimated State Department, led by an oil man whose only achievement in foreign affairs has been to accept a medal and fawning praise from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Foreign policy experts have been thrown to the margins in favor of right-wing ideologues whose overwhelming influence was seen in the president's disturbing and juvenile histrionics at the UN, including his reference to North Korea's Kim Jong Un as "Rocket Man."

Trump's threat to "totally destroy" 25 million people in North Korea received the blessing of his spiritual adviser, Texas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress, who once suggested President Barack Obama was paving the way for the antichrist.

The almost-certain cancellation of the multi-nation Iranian accord will be final confirmation of Trump's obsession with erasing every single trace of his predecessor's accomplishments, as he did with the Paris Accord on climate change. Will we now have to expect a spiritual blessing for destroying 81 million Iranians?
