I recently received a letter from St. Louis County Commissioner Dennis Fink touting many of his accomplishments as a commissioner. His general message was that he is contributing to a well-run County Board and he is spending your county dollars wisely.
He forgot to mention a few key points.
He didn't mention that during his last term, Fink voted for and received mileage reimbursement at a much higher rate than the IRS standard, as well as higher than that of any other county employee. He accepted 72 cents per mile, and this added up. He also didn't mention that when one of his female employees said he was sexually harassing her, his response was that he was an elected official, not a county employee, and therefore he was not subject to the county policy on sexual harassment for employees. Subsequently, the board spent an incredible amount of time working on a code of conduct for county commissioners, as if we should need one in the first place.
I don't trust Fink.
It's time for some honest, transparent leadership on the St. Louis County Board. That's why I am voting for Frank Jewell.
