This is in response to the Sept. 17 letter, "It's the dog owner's duty to keep pets safe."
On Sept. 9, at about 11:30 a.m., I drove by Super One Foods in Kenwood going east on Arrowhead Road in my newer, white, Ford
F-150 crew cab with my dog in the box of my truck. I went left onto Woodland Avenue and then right onto Snively to Glenwood Street. Then I went right onto Glenwood. Then I turned right onto 43rd Avenue East and proceeded east to 45th Avenue East. I then turned up 45th Avenue East before turning left onto Regent Street. Then I went left onto 44th Avenue East before turning left onto East Superior Street.
I parked on the lower side of East Superior Street about a quarter of a block from 45th Avenue East. A car pulled alongside of me, stopping mid-block. The
passenger-side window lowered. I lowered my driver's-side window in curiosity. Who on Earth would stop mid-block to speak to another person? I noticed in my side-view mirror cars behind the mindless driver coming to a stop, one after another. I expected the elderly woman to ask me for directions. However, that was not the case. She stopped traffic to school me on her opinion of how my canine family member should travel.

"Do you know how unsafe it is for a dog to ride in the box of a truck?" she scolded, to which I responded, and would respond again, "Mind your own business."
My dog will ride where she enjoys riding, whether in the back of my truck with her tongue hanging out and ears flappin' in the wind or on the back of my Harley.
Just sign me "Cruella De Vil."
