This is in response to the Feb. 2 story, "Ticketed -- and fuming about it."
On a recent Sunday evening, my neighbor's kitchen caught fire. Because of Super Bowl parties, with guests parked on both sides of Third Street at 25th Avenue East, fire trucks could not pull up to the house. Six firefighters had to run nearly a block to reach the burning kitchen.
Parking near Longview tennis courts is disastrous from April through October because of the many players who insist on parking as close as possible to their exercise area, unwilling to walk a short distance to the courts in order to park legally. Area driveways and alleys become blocked by people who ignore parking rules, and their cars are rarely ticketed. This creates an unsafe situation for anyone who drives or walks in this area.
