Reader's view: The cost of water is skyrocketing in Duluth

I just got my Comfort Systems bill, and I decided to look back at previous bills. The cost for five units of water in 2006 was $43.49. In 2008 it was $50.08. In 2010, $62.15. And this year it is $67.01.

That's a 54 percent increase in six years! And we need to brace ourselves for another increase in the near future. During this same time my income has decreased

30 percent (due to a job change) and I have not had a pay raise in more than four years.

Yes, water is precious and we do need to conserve it and make sure it's safe. But really? A 54 percent increase?

I know. The fish are in cahoots; they have a monopoly; they know it and they are lining their pockets!
