A letter Sept. 30 said the Tea Party movement was not "serving" the people. I could not have disagreed more.
The writer used almost every tactic one could to diminish the Tea Party movement and what we who participate in the movement stand for.
The Tea Party movement desires to have informed patriots grounded in thoughtfulness and knowledge. Tea Party supporters have a love of this country and appreciate her institutions and believe America represents freedom, and this freedom is both special and rare and must be protected.
The solid, grass-roots, Tea Party movement believes taxes and government spending must not have adverse effects on our economy and that trust in government begins to erode when government taxes the working people above a certain level of the people's earnings. In both spirit and substance, our current tax system has become unproductive toward life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Tea Party supporters will no longer tolerate the practice of deception by elected officials, such as forcing all citizens, regardless of need, into a compulsory government program.

Tea Party supporters will not place trust in one person or political party. We'll place our trust in those values that transcend persons and parties, which are stated in the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
A recent poll indicated that
61 percent of Americans support the Tea Party movement. The silent majority has awakened and understands that we as Americans have the right, obligation and duty to promote change.
The governed will not consent to allow elected officials to lead this country down a path that little by little takes away freedoms and liberties. Let's hope and pray for change Nov. 2, and end the political careers of those politicians who have forgotten who they represent: we the people.
