I've been generally supportive of President Donald Trump's diplomatic efforts with North Korea, but that has quickly changed.
Of all the things President Trump has done, nothing has angered me more than taking Kim Jong-un "at his word" that he knew nothing of Otto Warmbier's torture. This came after Trump buddied up to Warmbier's grief-stricken parents, including inviting them as honored guests to the State of the Union. President Trump's public about-face was just so cold and uncaring, and it demonstrated in plain view his desire to be liked by autocratic dictators. It was sick, sad, and dangerous for our country's future.
Meanwhile, his core supporters don't seem to care. They'll ignore it or chalk it up to a genius strategic ploy. The usual group of outraged Republican politicians will forget about this in a week and turn their ire back toward the Democrats.
Lately, it's like I'm living in a terrible dream where people are willfully ignorant, and the willfully ignorant win elections.
