Reader's view: Synthetic drug user should not become elementary schoolteacher

It is shameful synthetic marijuana users apparently feel the right to get high in public ("Getting high; not hiding it," Oct. 23). They should do that in the privacy of their own homes.

If the Lake Superior College student interviewed for the story has an adviser pointing him in the direction of becoming an elementary schoolteacher, that adviser should be fired. This young man's behavior, as well as his remarks, showed to me that he is not a mentor for young children and has a mind-set of only self-gratification. He might as well include, with every application he fills out for employment, the front-page picture of him toking. With a record of theft and being vocal about promoting synthetic marijuana, he is not the role model to be in our school system whatsoever. He is not a mentor of children.

It seemed he would rather get high while letting his son "get fresh air" alone. How about interacting with his son outdoors instead?

Suffice it to say, the users of synthetic marijuana are unemployed people who are trying to scam the system, using tax dollars to buy drugs. They cannot hold down jobs and are definitely addicted, as their behavior shows. It seems to me the owner of the Last Place on Earth is preying on those who cannot be productive citizens.

We need to do whatever is necessary to shut this down. Will it take a birth defect or deformity for students to wake up to the dangers of synthetic drug use? They all act immature in facing their parental responsibilities and can't seem to handle children's needs unless they are high doing it. What a waste.
